The actual ring device that you get looks and feels like a yoga or Pilates resistance ring that you can pull or push in with your left and right hands gripping at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. The padding where your hands grip the ring is velcroed on, so you can hand wash them too probably if it gets too sweaty.
The right joy-con clicks into the top of the ring device and the left joy-con is placed into a net mesh looking pocket with a velcro strap that goes around the top of your left thigh. These two things are how the game tracks your movements.
One comment mentioned how the strap kept falling on their thigh--it didn't slip after I tightened the wrap. If you have really wide thighs, the length of the strap may not go all the way around? It's very stretchy though and the velcro works well. The physical products feel well-made and durable.
Another cool feature is that you can measure your heart rate by placing your thumb on a part of the right joy-con that is clicked into the ring device. Where you place your thumb is actually on the joy-con, but having it connected to the ring device lets you measure it (hope that makes sense).
I didn't expect much as a non video game player and knew next to nothing about this game, so I was pleasantly surprised. I would say try this if you want to get your heart rate up more regularly.
