This $99 comes up all the time. Every few months if not more frequently. Decent set. Has most things you need for diy car jobs. I like having a set I don't have to worry about getting dirty or oily, and house it separately from my other tools. Also good to grab on the go to help family with car issues and confident you'll have most of the tools you'll need.

My Husky kit is 10 years old at this point so I'm not sure if this is still true with any quality changes, but I've used the sockets and ratchets to take apart multiple vehicles and put them back together. Trust me they have seen some crazy abuse.

Pittsburg stuff feels cheaper to me. Icon feels a little better than the Husky stuff.

My favorite ratchets right now are the Tekton swivel heads (which I just learned they don't make anymore).

I'm actually amazed this kit is still $99 after inflation the last few years. Seems like every other tool has gone up in price

This or DeWalt for $150?

Husky hands down. You get the lifetime warranty with Home Depot. I love this set. I've swapped engines and restored more motorcycles than I could count with this set.

If you scroll down and see the compare, the 244 piece is a much better package with real tools vs filler bits. It's listed as $179, but it is always a black Friday or special deal that drops regularly to $99 or $110. This kit isn't bad and the quality is good for the average person, but it comes with a 137 screwdriver bits. Personally I'd rather have more sockets and deep wells, especially in the 1/2in variety. Also the handle on the 244 piece is on the top vs and needing two hands to carry it.

Been this price a while. I bought and then returned it. I wanted it as a spare set for use at the race track, but it's really missing a lot. Doesn't go up to big sizes and no deep 1/2" sockets. Too few wrenches too. The case is way bigger than it needs to be and needs 2 hands to carry. All that said, for $100, if it has all you need and you don't care about the case being so big, then it's a good deal.

Be careful with the Dewalt set, I ordered mine for pickup and it was cracked upon delivery to the store. I had to return it same day. After reading some of the reviews on the Dewalt set, it's pretty common it'll come banged up due to shipping. Also having no slide-out compartments is a big downfall for me.

Just looking around this isn't even on sale and appears to be almost the same. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...5014204839 Comes with 103 sockets vs 117 for the 270 piece set. Not saying the 270 piece isn't a good deal just seems like it's "normal" price is absurdly high. Kobalt and Husky are both 2nd tier brands that happen to be pretty highly regarded for hand tools and mechanics tools and both have lifetime warranty so no real differences there either.

Full list of everything in the Husky set if anyone wants it. Per response from Husky in the product questions section.

You lost all credibility when you mentioned Tekton. Their tools are bottom shelf unless you are on the internet where this brand has some cult following. Also, Tekton doesn't actually make anything.

100% not worth it.

Every time I go to do a project on my car, I have to go to the hardware store to buy something that should be in here.

Also some pieces are out of tolerance, particularly on the 3/8" driver end.
