If you are looking for a comprehensive set of driver bits, this set seems to deliver, but of course you could buy a much higher quality comprehensive driver bit set in a compact case for $25.
If you don't work on cars and just want a good household ratchet/socket set, my preference would be the Husky 94-piece (which has no 1/2" ratchet) in a much more manageable case (it weighs 20 pounds less) for half this price.

I have this set and it's pretty good!
But if you are wanting a general mechanic's set to get started with DIY, I really like the Dewalt sets... all six-point, less bits. I bought my son the 226-pc when it was $150 a year ago: https://www.dewalt.com/product/dw...large-case
Dewalt has a 192-pc that is a good setup, too. And it's currently $160 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWM...B01BHJE0J
This Dewalt at HD looks like a little step back from that, but it's closer in price to this Husky set. https://www.homedepot.c

It's the only set which includes a 27 - and then goes two steps further and adds a 30 and a 32. You'll also have the equivalents in SAE in the set if you run in to rust or damaged bolts and need a slightly different size. See my comparison chart above for the full kit contents and compare.
Whoever put together the list of the pieces included in that HF 301 kit actually works on cars. Marketing & finance people assembled the other sets, they're full of 12 point sockets, often missing commonly needed sizes, and use useless bits to inflate their counts. There's a reason Derek from Vice Grip Garage buys one for all of his travel revivals when he flies in.
Also it's a latching suitcase style with removable trays, so you never have to worry about the drawers which seems to be the chief common complaint with those style kits. I have a few drawer style kits as well and I really love just being able to set the HF trays out and keep working instead of messing with the drawers of the other ones.
