I actually didn't use the SmartThings app on mine, but I read that's how many people fixed theirs. Some people complained it automatically updates the speakers and they complained the volume was lower after updating. I used the remote that came with the soundbar to adjust mine.
It's been a minute since I did it, but I believe that remote has a gears icon which should be options. Clicking that should let you cycle through some more options on the soundbar itself. Eventually, it will display rear or something to that effect. That will let you adjust the volume all the way up on those independently. Hope that helps! If I find a guide online, I'll send it your way.
EDIT: I found my review on Best Buy and Samsung responded on how to adjust the volume! Here you go:
Hi KBURNS,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung SWA-9500S Wireless Rear Loud Speakers to accompany your HW-Q700A
Once this kit is connected to a compatible Samsung soundbar, the soundbar remote is then used to control the volume level of the rear kit. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
Also, make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote. If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote.
You might want to try turning off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. Depending on your soundbar model, you may or may not have DRC.

I couldn't get the SmartThings app to work; do you have to do something special? I will have to try again if you got yours to work. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll give it a whirl. You the man! Thanks much for you time and effort!

Hope it helps! I remember how frustrated I was not getting the sound from those when I first got them. Defeats the entire purpose of surround sound without it!
It depends on your sound bar model. For HW-S60A/B, it only works with SWA-9100S or SWA-9200S. I got a pair of 9200S open box in excellent condition from BB for ~$65 last December. It is decent in certain audio mode and weak output otherwise. I have to adjusted the surround output up all the way. Anyway, I got the HW-S60B for ~$130. So the whole setup is only $200 with the 9200S included. Still a great value for the setup.
I hear that, but you'd still think you'd hear the main rear speaker (the one that has the bluetooth)
I don't have this exact one, but mine has a central receiver that is plugged into the wall and then speaker wire that runs to the speakers. I figured this worked the same, and the speaker wire needs to be stripped more for better contact (at least that's what I'm thinking )
On first set up I seated the wires all the way in, but I had 0 sound coming from them. Pulled them out just a bit after reading that tip and they worked.

Called Samsung, I couldn't figure out the +/- for the sound bar and rear speakers. All set now. Thanks all for the help.
FYI: If you have this sound bar or one like it (SAMSUNG HW-Q600B), to access the +/- for the sound bar and rear speakers you need to press the "CH Level" button then cycle through and adjust as needed.
Got a S61B a while back from another deal and now this just being on sale is so convenient to upgrade. Hoping the pairing isn't too complicated. Thanks OP!

I have these and the accompanying wireless sub as well with the S60B soundbar. I would not recommend.
The sound quality is honestly not great from these tiny rear speakers compared to my ten year old Vizio soundbar with wireless speakers/sub. For the price you end up paying to buy the speakers and a sub separately, you can find better all-inclusive options. The whole system gets plenty loud, but it doesn't seem to have much dynamic range. The center channel seemed to get lost once I added the rear speakers and sub.
Also, it introduced a slight but perceivable delay that isn't there when I use just the soundbar connected via HDMI ARC. It's not enough to make me stop using it, but enough that once you notice it it's annoying.
