It's a 3 year old flagship (introduced in 2020) the replacement is coming next year at which point these models will likely be lowered in price further perhaps as "open box" versions with full warranty to get around manufacturer's minimum advertised price. It's a decent price, but considering the age of the receiver and the limited amount of time before the next one is coming out, I wouldn't buy this unless you absolutely need a (flagship) receiver now...

Will this be the normal price now or could it drop lower?

If you mean normal "sale" price, I can't see it drop to much lower.

If you don't need/care for Dirac and maybe need more 8K HDMI's, this a lot of value for the price!

Here is a comparison most will compare this to(4800).

FYI the 6800 gets released at the beginning of the year , MSRP will be $3499.
Some sites are already taking pre orders.

I assume once the new one out, this can drop to $1299. Since my Onkyo still good enough, I can wait another year for 6800 to drop to similar price.

You might be waiting longer than a year.

As Hollysin just pointed out this is 3 years old and now with Dirac option, it has changed the matrix.
If rumors come true and the 6800 gets Dirac ART option later, will make it even longer IMO.

If preference isn't a big priority and only need 11 channels you might want to consider the Onkyo RZ70.
It just came out and some have already pointed out it's already dropped to $1999 as a refurb.
Denon will hold its value longer, this took 3 years.

Yes, I am already on RZ70 with Dirac out the box, I am happy with it, can wait another year to upgrade to more power and channels.

I was able to resist the prior two times this deal came up but couldn't this time. Seems like the X6800H offers very little extra other than more 8k inputs so it didn't seem wise to wait. Now I just need to decide if I'll upgrade to Dirac or not. Mine is going in a dedicated home theater with a wide array of sound treatments so I'm not sure it's needed or not.

I know what you mean. I went with the 3800 & can wait until next year to upgrade to both Dirac Live & DLBC if they give a discount for both like they have.

Unfortunately this will not get the Dirac options.
That is one of the advantages of the 6800 over this.

Love my 6700. Paid 2k at BB 2 years ago. Running 7.2.6 using a 2ch monolith amp powering the L/R towers. 7.2.4 is likely fine for folks who just want the 11ch. I was building a new theater and ceiling speakers are cheap.

I don't need higher quality inputs when I'm driving a 5050UB.

Just to make it clear : this can process 13 channels. You just need an external amp for 2 of them. So you can do 9.4 or 7.6

Not flagship. Recent flagships are 7200W(A), 8500H(A), A1H.

Who knows? A4L has a manufacturer refurb with 3 years of warranty for 1799. So this price is outstanding if it meets your use cases.

If you think inflation has been 30% since 2020, this is a good deal. If your wages have kept up, that is.

What do you think about the RZ70?......the specs including the amp/power supply seem to spec out pretty well

It caught my eye as a replacement for the Marantz 7015 I have..that has already been replaced with a new unit by Denon/Marantz, under warranty.
