Was this just not 899?
I remember the good old days when you could buy 3000 series for 499 and 4000 series for 800 at Frys...those were the days
For reference that extra power (125w vs 105w) is 0.7db additional audio volume.

I think it was a mistake. They fixed it within an hour of the price drop. $999 is an amazing deal on this...

It's something they've done with a few receivers for BF. Drop it low and then add $100 once a certain number of units are sold. Good marketing. Even this price is solid.

Been waiting for this. And researching. And stressing. Almost pulled the trigger on the AVR-X4800h deal but didn't want to pay the extra $300. I seriously doubt I could hear the difference, and I am not the type to resell and rebuy to care about supposed resale value. Since I was not sure this deal would show up, I got so far as to add the more expensive model to my cart and enter my credit card details. Glad I couldn't bring myself to hit submit. I'll need the $300 for atmos in-ceiling speakers. Merry Holidays to me.

I would mostly agree, most of the benefits people mention aren't really audible benefits.

As far as resale the same worth debate made now would apply in 3-4 years also.

The 4800 is definitely worth the extra $300 if you won't be adding external power & your speakers prefer/ need extra power to perform at optimal levels for you.

Where do you input a promotion code? After going through check-out be fore "buy"? Do you need an account (compared to like PayPal)?

At checkout in the payment section. Look for "Do you have a gift card or promo code?". Click and expand to add code.

You'll only need to wait until 2025 for it to be a $1000 like this X3800 that came out in 2022

Thanks. Really did not want to go through the check out process to find out. But Adorama has its own way of selling.
