About 99.99% of users are never going to use these enough to wear out the brushes, so I really don't think that is a concern. But brushless has other advantages, such as being more efficient so you can get more work done per charge.

Have this exact set, bought it last summer for around the same price in store without the free/third battery. The drill/driver don't have quite as much torque as I'd like but no major complaints, they do the job well as a starter set. The 2ah batteries don't last long, don't know how the 4ah performs.

Who is making "Craftsman" now since Sears is gone? or has it not changed anything?

This actually looks like a pretty decent all around kit and would make a fantastic gift for a DIY type new home buyer. Drill, driver, reciprocating saw, circular saw, oscillating tool, and a work light with 3 batteries and a charger for $200? Nice.

The reviews are pretty good. But I don't think these are brushless. Might have to pass.

Correct. They're not brushless according to the specification page, but for the occasional use DIYer these are marketed to, I don't think that's a huge problem.

Brushes aren't terribly hard to replace when necessary: buy replacement brushes, pop open case, remove old brushes, clean out case, install new brushes, close case.

I'd get this set if I already didn't have everything I need. If you are a DIYer this set will be just fine for you even if it is brushed

Craftsman used to be good tool now is crap man. I had horrible experience with craftsman lately. Just very cheap built quality, if u do buĂ˝ keep your packaging incase you have to return the whole set. If you do buy any tool from them at least buy the brushless

I second this. I have Brushless Craftsman V20 tools and would personally stay away from this brushed set. The brushless tools feel more responsive and have more power than the older brushed versions, not to mention longer runtime on a charge.

I have both DeWalt and craftsman v20 brushless tools. Some of the tools are nearly identical. I have not had a single problem with the craftsman. Would not hesitate to buy this set as a gift for someone even though it's brushed.

Looks like brushed. Maybe worth it for a diy/homeowner but 2Ah batteries are simply too small for these

Anyone know how this compares to the Ryobi set at HD? Looks almost identical except for the Ryobi being rated 18V compared to 20V. And that difference may only be for marketing...
