This is OLED and it's a wider aspect ratio. You're giving up height and getting width. But this is an OLED panel - deeper blacks and better contrast/color representation, generally, than a similar LED.
4k is higher resolution and will improve some things - but you'll be able to run this monitor at a higher refresh rate and that will improve motion and perception of quality. 4K is hard for most graphics cards to push.
FWIW, I had the Samsung G7 4K monitor and returned it and replaced with this. I much prefer this from a picture quality standpoint.

I believe I saw a $120 off $600+ purchase mentioned somewhere as well.
Anybody know what the best cashback and offers stack up would be for this?

But looks like I don't have any Dell offers. Neither the $40 off $200 or $120 off $600.
Pretty bummed.
With the 18% cashback, it brings it down to around the same price (i.e. ~$660) as it was earlier this year. Difference is is there's now a $100 gift card, but people in the 38" Alienware thread I think are saying they are fighting dell for that gift card supposedly.
Also, was the $660 price for the aw3423dwf in this thread or the older aw3423dw? Because I have seen the aw3423dw for cheaper but the aw3423dwf has the ability to get firmware updates.
EDIT: Oh, the $660 price was for refurb units. These are brand new. The refurbs only come with a 90 day warranty. These new ones come with 3 year warranties. That's HUGE.

So yeah, this is as good as it's probably going to get. I may as well buy now.
Will post back if I have any issues with the $100 gift card.
Wasn't able to use the Amex offers, as I didn't have them, but had a 5% offer with my Chase Freedom card. So I guess that's something.
Brand new plus 3yr warranty is a win.

There are a couple of caveats: some titles, particularly indie, do not support 21:9 and will render 16:9, inserting black bars in the empty space. Also, some competitive titles do not handle wide screens well. I am not sure if this has changed but for example Overwatch, for some stupid reason actually zooms in on the image to make it fill the screen. They probably do that to avoid giving wide monitors an advantage, but it actually cuts on vertical FOV in the other direction.

It has .03 ms response time, that's already faster than any non OLED panel.
It has Alienvision, that can remove fog, generate heat maps, or brighten key areas of a scene.
It also has the standard hip fire crosshairs option built in.
Also, rtings included this in their burnin tests, the thing was on CNN for like 6 months straight and didn't have even a hint of Burnin.
