I'm not a mechanic, but it seems you'd only need one of these giant sets with the full range of 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" ratchets and sockets if you work on cars, but if that's the case then why would some of these sets not include a spark plug socket? This guy prefers Craftman's "smaller" 216-piece set [youtu.be] over this one.

The smaller one is $200 vs this at $100.

I know most of these come with a mat on top between the top lid and bottom to prevent things from moving but I still prefer all drawers. I also think Craftsman has system where you can upgrade this with more things like tool box, etc on top/bottom but not sure of the expansion options these days.
Can someone check if either has anything other might be missing?
This is a great price for majority of the sockets most people need but I am surprised it does not include longer extension, that's the only bummer and I think way too many tiny wrenches and allen ranches that keeps the number of "pieces" high.

One might consider this if you're already into the Craftsman Versastack or DeWalt Tatak systems.

My general conclusion is that Kobalt has the better quality/warranty these days, and I believe the Kobalt ratchets are 90-tooth 4-degree (nice!) vs Craftsman's 72-tooth 5-degree. But the Kobalt case/chest generally draws complaints for poor quality (somebody mentioned the flip cover. I think Craftsman beats Kobalt on case quality and function.
For these sets in particular, they have very different components, so check what you need. The Kobalt has 94 sockets, 8 wrenches, and 36 bit driver sockets, which is nice. The Craftsman has 91 sockets, 21 wrenches, and what appears to be a lot fewer bit driver sockets.
Most sockets in both sets are 6-point but 36 of the Kobalt sockets are 12-point and I can't tell how many of the Craftsman sockets are 12-point.
