Lots of wasted space (though you could store other tools in that space I suppose), and the 1/2 sockets were 12 point not 6 point, while the 3/8 were largely 6 point. I'd want the other way around, or preferably just all 6 point, which is less-likely to round off stubborn nuts/bolts.
I think the HART or Husky kits might be better.

They used to be very good, under Sears. Then went through a few changes near Sears wanning days through to today under Lowes. Just wondering how they currently compare.

This will cover everything you need for any mechanical work that you would encounter on average basis and have you covered for life and the warranty work is pretty easy compared to HD or Lowes.

It's not a huge difference in finish or overall quality, but I do prefer the pre-2013 stock that were generally all made in USA. Now it's all Chinese or Thailand made, which are probably more likely to fail. If you can find an older set on FB marketplace (especially a large set), that's a keeper.
At one point B&D promised to start making them in the US again, but I don't think that ever happened.

I've broken at least six wrenches from HF.. The steel they use is soft and brittle, like it was from India.
