Neither is a good deal and has been cheaper before.
The 4060 was available for as low as $1099 and the 4070 for $1599.

Not sure how/when they update the open box prices but around midnight I was able to snag the 4060 open box excellent for $889.99. May be worth keeping an eye on the open box prices though the week.

With any of these ASUS laptops, but especially the open box ones, get whatever bestbuy extended warranty you can. I had a g15 that isn't even 2 years old yet and the power just died on it. ASUS was a pain to deal with, made me spend $85 to ship it to them then gave me a repair quote that was more than what I paid for it brand new.

Use a CC with an extended warranty of Asus laptops. My zenbook died for no good reason at 1yr and a few days from purchase. Asus asked for more than Inpaid to replace board. CC company refunded quote cost and repair cost. Bought a different laptop with it.

I've been keeping an eye on this since I recently returned a Lenovo Legion slim 14" with basically the same specs.

Should I not look at this? What the hell am I supposed to look at in the 14" laptop range that aren't Lenovo or Asus? I don't want some shitty MSI or overpriced Razer laptop. I do not even look at Dell/Alienware. Haven't purchased a Dell in over 2 decades and I've NEVER purchased an Alienware machine, I really don't want to start now.

Any laptop over $1k should really have 32GB of RAM standard, at this point. It really makes a difference for people with 50 tabs open, and most people have 50 tabs open.

Except me. I'd never do that.

Not me.

Been trying to decide between this and the comparable Razer for my new work laptop, Razer is a bit heavier but seems to be better built. Anyone have both to compare?

Thats a great credit card! I have to look into it for the next purchase. The reason I am relaying my experience with this is that when I looked up repair videos to see if I could do it myself (I could not) there were MANY from guys having to use thermal cameras to replace capacitors on ASUS ROG boards. Bestbuy is having a sale on all the open box G14s? Why do they have so many open box returns? Dont get me wrong, I loved this laptop and did a lot of research before buying it but quality crapshoot for sure. I think I am going to check out lenovo next.

Had a 2.8k oled screen, 32gb RAM, 4060, blah blah blah. Nabbed it from a deal here.

Returned because battery life was atrocious, even in 60hz mode and fans would spin up while web browsing.

Fans shouldn't be spinning like that when I'm only browsing the web with 2 tabs open.

My wife has a Mac and was laughing at the thing.

edit I should mention I'm looking at the 2023, 165hz model, not this 2024 OLED version. I know OLED will suffer the same battery consumption issues.

I'm debating between the 2 years. Love the new 2024 build, but darn that RAM is calling me on the 2023.
