Owned this for 4 years and finally upgraded to a dual boiler + Niche Zero. If you're in for long term, my 2 cents, get the Bambino + a better grinder (DF64/Niche etc), as you'll learn this built-in grinder sucks, brewing is awesome though.
I agree with the poor grinder. I used this machine with a baratza sette 270 and it was next level espresso.

In the end, BBE was taking up too much space on the countertop, so I replaced it with a gaggia classic pro and added PID.

2.5 years later, I'm still happy with GCP.
As a headsup, Breville now owns Baratza. The newer Breville Express Touch and Impress Touch use Baratza burrs (the old Breville one have a 5 point configuration, new Baratza burrs has 6). I really wish they upgraded this machine with Baratza burrs.

Struggled with this for years. Older machine likely with the old temp settings. Never got around to hacking mine but once in every 10 shots would i get a palatable espresso.
Tried all the gizmos - wdt, bottomless, better tamp, fresh beans etc. I think the grinder is the weak link here and I just got frustrated and put mine away and collecting dust. A shame bc most have good success with it. If I ever get back into it ill get a bambino plus and a better grinder someday but im back to my nespresso(yuk) and aeropress.

I actually made the comparison between the Barista Express vs Express Impress. Its my understanding that the Barista Express Impress is more user friendly and is meant for someone who is starting out wanting to make cafe style espresso drinks.
Barista Express are for those who are more experience and but want more control over their espresso.
Honestly for me, I went with the Barista Express because there was a better deal on the Express.

Where did you buy the Niche? Directly from the UK store?

Yes, I got it directly from their website, arrived a week later or so. I prefer bold/full body for milk drinks so it works out pretty well.

I thought about the bambino and a nice grinder, but the price is almost the same as this one.

The grinder is the weak link. I wish they just sold a grinderless one (Bambino?). I got a refurb Baratza Sette 270 years ago and never looked back. I've had the Barista for 7 years now and it's been great when paired with the 270. Although, I question whether it'd be easier to just get a more expensive machine with a better grinder than getting both separately.

New to this world. This Breville ($550) or the recent Costco deal for the Phillips 3200 with lattego ($500)?
