Lunar Lake is much better. both CPU and GPU plus efficiency. I would say get this over the one with Meteor lake.

better to compare ultra 7 155H vs ultra7 285V, in your graph it show 10h and 18h for zenbook.
Every post I made was about 125U, because it's like the dollar store version of a Lunar Lake. that's my whole point

good deal with the best CPU (Ultra Series 2). Excellent battery life and the best integrated GPU.

This seems to be a good deal. Not a whole lot of options with this processor and ram combo in the 14inch range. Only minor downside is the 60hz screen
I agree. This meets most of my criteria at a good price point.

Thin, light, great battery life, runs cool and quiet. Powerful enough CPU and iGPU for mostly everything I'd need to do on it. Intel means no compatibility issues. Good port selection, and 1TB of storage is plenty. Plus 32GB RAM which I think is worth the upgrade from 16GB in (nearly) 2025.

Oled screen is nice although yes I do wish it was higher refresh rate or higher resolution. Vivobook build quality seems good enough but nothing special when it comes to the keyboard and trackpad.

Haven't seen any good deals on lunar lake with 32GB RAM yet, this is the first one under $1000 to my knowledge.

I haven't bought tech from Staples before. Only 14 day return window according to the website.
EDIT: Staples has returns until Jan 11 for the holidays.

On Staples website, which I'm counting on Big Grin

"During the holiday season, we are extending our regular 14–day electronic and furniture return policy to permit customers to return products that may be purchased as gifts.

For purchases made in our Staples Stores, by phone, or on Staples.com, any electronic or furniture products, which usually fall within the 14–day return policy, purchased between November 17, 2024 and December 24, 2024 may be returned until January 11, 2025 or as regular policy allows, whichever is later."

14" 60hz gloss with no touch. They keep making laptops that never meet all the three 1. Oled 2. Non-glossy or glossy with touch 3. 120hz. Lacking either one of them makes your life hard.
Doesn't matte finish interfere with OLED colors?

GPU yes, efficiency absolutely. But not raw CPU power. Ultra 9 ML is significantly more powerful than the Ultra 7 LL.
The Meteor Lake Ultra 9 185H is significantly better in multi-core benchmarks, but they are comparable in single core performance, so it depends on the workloads you will be using your CPU for.

Yes a matt finish absolutely kills the billion color vibrancy of an OLED. It's a good thing laptop manufacturers don't listen to people like him. Obsessive non-glossy screen fetishists should stick to business laptops with crappy washed out LCDs and leave us alone.

This or the one here (https://www.microcenter.com/produ..._Onboard_R) from microcenter for same price. See one available in stock near me so quick advice would be greatly appreciated. Mostly looking for developer (coding)/office work

Depends on what you need. Performance or battery life? This one has worse multi threaded performance, better single threaded performance, and noticeably better battery life. Larger or smaller screen? Do you care about a numpad?

This is a good deal, $100 cheaper than the Walmart equivalent (same specs, just black color)

However, after obsessively researching and comparing various CPUs/battery life/performance reviews from every source I can find, what I've concluded is: Lunar Lake is slightly more powerful than the older 125U, has similar battery life, and much better graphics. Lunar Lake actually has surprisingly low multi-core performance because they're tuned for efficiency.

So if you're not a gamer and want the dollar store version of Lunar Lake, just buy an older laptop with the 125U. It'll be $300-400 cheaper and you get similar daily functionality. That's my cheap-arse strategy.

The Just Josh Youtube channel came to the same conclusion in their detailed review of Lunar Lake in which they compared it to all the other platforms and measured things like power efficiency, benchmarks, etc.
In 2024 and beyond, just having much quieter fans is a big deal in my book. Lunar Lake I hope is part of this trend.

So 258v actually performs worse than 155h? That's a bummer.

Just comes down to tradeoffs. Lot of folks are just sick and tired of laptops pissing out so much heat and needing the fans to turn on every 10 seconds. There'll always be more performant workstationlike laptops being sold, but actual ultra low power CPUs by Intel that don't blow up the fans all the time are a nice breath of fresh air.

The improved integrated GPU is also a nice recent trend by Intel.

If the 32GB of RAM isn't make or break, the Amazon deal on the same laptop with an Ultra 9 185H for $765 shipped is a much better deal.
No. Latest gen Intel is genuinely a game changer. This is wrong on almost every level.
