For this price it should be all metal with no plastic parts.

Why don't more ricers implement the gears?
I have had ricers in the past that required quite a bit of strength and placed strain on the portion of the handle right before the head. Usually toss them before they break and hurt someone. Even the metal versions are like this with the metal bending due to being too thin. That is with fully cooked veggies. Worth a try to see if the gears help.

Yep that's exactly what I'm talking about. Every single one I've had even the one I have currently bends where you're talking about. And it's not like I'm under cooking my potatoes or something. I'm hoping to have better luck with this one honestly. Plus I think my biggest complaint is that the regular versions are hard to clean afterwards. If you leave potato in there longer than like 15 minutes, the starch dries out and it turns into rocks in there lol

I agree. Especially considering the all metal ones are less expensive. Read the negative reviews that say the plastic breaks.

The whole point imo is to avoid the metal ones bending. Do you have a solution to that or a recommendation for a better one?

I've tried 3 different brands including oxo, which is what I currently have, and they all bend with use...

The price doesn't matter to me anymore if the product sucks... This actually looks like the best I've seen.

Don't know about this one specifically (would probably be great because the gearing), but potato ricers are great for squeezing out the liquid when making Canna-butter. Throw some cheesecloth in there, some slow-cooked oily plant matter and squeeze away!

wow... looks good.. if i didnt already have one which i use less than once a year for only mashed potatoes... just hate it's all platic exept for the extruder disc. i have to baby it a little when pressing... otherwise i feel the plastic handle would possibly crack on me.

not oxo but another name brand.

Can't speak to this ricer, but we had a ricer for potatoes and hated it. It just took too much force to do its job. My recommendation for potatoes is to pressure cook your potatoes and get an old fashioned zigzag wire masher. Pressure cooking will get them super soft and in less time.

I have the older model, the 12.75" as listed on Amazon, and it's been great. The plastic is super heavy duty and has a good feel to it. I have total confidence in it long term. The ability to remove the ricer cup to wash, or just to soak, is a huge convenience. Cleaning the metal ones that are all one unit is a total PITA and I find this one has a few less tiny nooks and crannies and no sharp metal edges to deal with either. Premium price but the cleaning convenience alone is almost worth it.
That said, I got mine last year for $21, so that price is a bit easier to swallow than $35

After working in a potato factory, I wouldn't let my dog eat instant potatoes. It's a bleaching process that makes them white.

I use this one, all metal. Feels heavy duty metal. There's no gears to help you though, but when pressing down the potatoes, there's nothing that feels is weakening. Obviously I boiled the potatoes first.
