Recipe to make your own homemade power wash spray. These spray bottles are the best, so I'll purchase and re use these until they break

-13 oz of water (I find warm water works best)
-4 tablespoons of Dawn Platinum dish soap (we use Kirkland brand)
-2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)
Just an FYI, same everyday price (per ounce) at Sam's Club if you have a membership

Thx. Is this a flx that makes dawn act more like Power Wash Dawn, or is that the actual ingredient DAWN company uses for their power wash formula, if you know?

Dipropylene glycol butyl ether: A solvent

Ethanolamine: An ingredient in Dawn Powerwash

Fragrance: An ingredient in Dawn Powerwash

Hexyl ethoxylate: An ingredient in Dawn Powerwash

Phenoxyethanol: An ingredient in Dawn Powerwash

PPG-26: An ingredient in Dawn Powerwash

Sodium xylenesulfonate: An ingredient in Dawn Powerwash

Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate: An ingredient in Dawn Powerwash

For the alcohol, what strength do you use? 70%?

I can personally attest that it doesn't work as well, but it's much cheaper to make and can still be dispensed through the sprayer nozzles. I'm always experimenting but I think the magic is in the process moreso than the ingredients.

This is the at home version of the various chemicals/ingredients used in the in plant manufacturing process. Been using this recipe for years and it hits the mark for our cleaning needs

Yes, 70%. Used 91% a few times and the smell was too harsh for us

Two items to note (just in case 🙂):
1. We had same initial experience. It sucked. But then I started using warm water and making sure I used a very liberal four tablespoons of the soap. Could even try a fifth. It made a difference and thickened the spray
2. I made sure to mix everything together, when ingredients all in measuring cup, before I poured it back in the spray bottle. This also (very surprisingly) made a difference for us.

YMMV - after experimenting a few small changes, we got something that works and saves us $$$ on this stuff

Great tips, I'll definitely try them out. I've always had a feeling the devil would be in the details making this stuff & based on your experience it seems more likely than ever. 😭

No problem, happy to help! You might even find a better way to do it than me (ex: adding essential oils, etc).

Best of luck if you give it another go

It literally is just watered down soap at a premium price, marketed to be a new product to suckers willing to pay 10x the price of normal dish soap
The alcohol is optional and really just used to keep the bottle spray nozzle from clogging up. If you don't use alcohol, you can unclog by running under warm tap water.
Need bottles? you can buy empty bottles that last longer on temu/aliexpress.

I just kinda eyeball, it cause anything is better than these kids. Just pouring out the dawn onto a sponge, they go through a whole huge container so fast. So this is my dream come true. They could spray all they want. And they'll never use as much as they do when they pour so much on a sponge.
