It's a historical leftover. historically yes they are better. Now it is more perceived/branding. I think it was due to one of the natural disasters of the early 00s.
now they are largely equal across countries but brand and other factors matters more.
There are lots of good PSU tier lists that look at failure rates and other expensive testing methods to determine overall quality.

For example: ATX 3.0 (12VHPWR) + RTX 50 series will benefit from 12V-2x6 connection.
But that being said manufacturers can change the design of the new power cable making it "safer". Some do this and call the updated cable a 12V-2x6 cable. It's a confusing mess at the moment.
