I think there's also more pushback with growing microplastic concerns. Laundering fleece will release quite a bit in relation to tighter weaves.

Nice! I was looking for a new fleece and I like Cotopaxi quality (I usually buy Columbia or Eddie Bauer, but don't love the shifting fashion focus of NF or the high sticker price of Patagonia).

Hard to think about when it's 87 degrees outside, but REI members have a 1-year return policy fyi.

It's trendy on SD to be mad about poly. It's true the cheap poly options are pretty sticky and sweaty, but modern fleece has always been poly -- the idea is that it works like wool but isn't very absorbent at the same time.

There's a huge variety in quality of poly clothese. I expect this one to be among the better ones

Sticky, sweaty, doesn't breathe, not warm, pollutes the environment.

But you're not eating the fleece... You're wearing it.

Yep, good point -- that's part of why I pass on a lot of the cheaper ones, I'm hoping this will last a long time. Replacement cycles are way too short these days, and our culture has a very disposable attitude towards a lot of things. Nobody really wins, and for something that isn't "seasonably fashionable" then it's better to buy quality. One item shedding microplastics is a lot better than 5 in a row
