is this regionally based?
Doesn't work for me.

Also, what makes this Installation Tool better than a drill or driver? Just the quick changeability and ergonomics?

I have a whole slew of M12, M18, and DeWalt drills and impacts. This is my absolute favorite go-to driver for around the house stuff. The only thing people seem to dislike about is the FWD/REV is not a thumb switch like a typical drill but instead a button on top. Took a while for my muscle memory to figure that out. Other than that it really is amazing.

Agree. Heavily into M18 and M12, and this is my goto drill. Well balanced. Powerful. along with the M12 hydraulic impact I rarely go to my M18 drill/driver anymore. I got it for about $180 through eBay and if you can get on this deal it's a steal. Agree on the switch too, it's the only change I would make but not a deal killer.

Hi, can some one explain the need for both a right angle and offset attachment, as in a practical reason for both?

I do cabinet installations frequently and I have a dedicated right angle drill for joining a narrow cabinet to another (where I don't have room for a full sized drill or impact driver) but I'm trying to rack my brain as to the usefulness of an offset adapter and if I'd ever use it.

The balance is nice, and the power is enough to do most tasks. If I have to work with a lot of 2x lumber I may switch to my M18. The changeability means I can toss the various heads in my bag and be ready for unknowns (especially the offset head for low clearance work). If I had to get rid of every drill or driver, this would be the one I hold onto.

I've used the offset adapter to drill holes very close to a cabinet side (for a pin style hinge that rides on a top hat bushing in the frame base) using hex shank drill bits. The offset allows you to get closer to a wall. I haven't used it much but thankful I have it.

The interchangeabilty is nice if you care about keeping your bag lighter but still ready for anything.

The offset lets you get closer to a fastener (or drill holes for said fastener etc) that's say up tight against a wall. While you may or may not be able to drive that fastener with a normal chuck I find that when I'm in that situation the chuck spins (rubs) against the work piece marring it up. It's one of those things (atleast for me) where you don't need it often but when you do its nice to have.

Different purposes. An offset can get you in closer to a corner, assuming you want to go in perpendicular. From the product description, "Offset attachment provides ultimate access to tight corners and will not damage or mar finished materials when fastening." A right angle gets you in when the drill doesn't fit, but it doesn't get you in any tighter to a corner. And, hey, you can even use them together to get into that really terrible screw location.

Edit. Expl0it beat me to it.

I have the screwdriver and an impact driver, but need an M12 drill. Are there any drawbacks to using the installation driver as a drill compared to the regular M12 or Fuel drills?

Which ones use the electronic clutch in place of the mechanical clutch?

Yup, no surprise there. If you want just one of the two, i.e., the "hack", you've gotta purchase both then either cancel or return the one you don't want.

The installation driver comes with a metal ratcheting chuck, so it's no slouch as a drill. I think the main drawback would be the lack of a hammer function that you can get on the M12 Fuel hammer drill, but that's not used often unless you're working with concrete.

I use my installation driver as a drill all of the time unless I'm using a 1/2" bit or larger.

You don't remove the other tool, you place the order and cancel the other tool that you do not want, but one of the tool has to be store pick up and the other tool that you don't want you have it ship.
