It took a bit of research on my end to understand the differences between pressurized and nonpressurized filter baskets. Once I understood the difference, it helps you understand why I prefer the Breville and why it has the capability to make better espresso.

You should clean the machine weekly or two or mold builds inside. You also need to lube the machine once every couple of months.
The aquafilter cost like 20$? Every couple of months.
If you're SUPER picky with your Expresso the Phillips isn't the machine for you. But if you value your time and just want a simple machine that does everything ok it's a great machine.

FYI - I got this machine for Fathers' Day. Long story short, my wife got me an espresso machine and was trying to not spend too much. Loved the thought of the gift, so we decided we'll go all out on an even better one. A nice timely SD FP popped up for this machine and we picked it up. ($700 @ Amazon + 12 bags of beans at Beanz.com.

But, you will spend a lot of time learning how to brew something delicious. I highly recommend you read up and understand how proper espresso brewing works.
I drink on average 2 Americanos a day with this machine.
You're looking at the price all wrong. 2 Starbucks Grande Americanos/day at $3.75/ea comes to $12,318.75 over 4.5 years. Subtract off $1000 for espresso beans and they're paying you to take this machine off their hands 🤣

This step is failing for me, it will not apply the coupon.
Seeing as this would be a $100-200 upgrade (depending on what I sell my old one for), I think it is definitely worth it, especially as I can make multiple lattes faster when I have guests over.
tip: I bought one of those switch bots for my current machine to automatically turn my Express on, 20-30 minutes before I wake up in the morning to have the portafilter and machine ready and warmed up. Works like a charm.
