The difference in rice quality between a $30 rice cooker and a Zojirushi is significant. If you love rice and you have some disposable income, this is a great purchase.
Why is this the first comment in every rice cooker thread. People really can't understand that some premium products work better than the absolute cheapest?

How so? technology appears the same to me.
Always listen to your Asian ancestors' wishpering voices. If you don't have one, listen to the one that does. My ancestors said buy it. I'm still using the same one for 9 years given our family eat rice every day for lunch and dinner.

You only know from experience if you're asian or you have worked as a chef in asian restaurants. The quality is just superior when it comes to adjustments in timing. However, it is a luxury in price and if you have the skill to cook rice in a pot then you can do so too. Other rice cookers are meh.
Seems a bit pricey for 5.5c rice cooker.
The Aroma brand with similar features is 40 bucks and makes 20c. seems like less than 1/4 the price for nearly 4x the yield. What am I missing?

Anyone knows how this one compares to the Tiger that goes on sale at Costco from time to time? We have the 10 cup version of this Zojirushi - love it, but it's getting old, and the bowl is getting scratched up. Thinking of replacing it. Not sure which one to go with.

Every japanese person knows the value in zojirushi. It's made to last and it makes the perfect rice every time. This is the Ferrari of rice cookers and this price is amazing.
This is one of the best kitchen appliances you can invest in. Put in the rice, put in the water and walk away. It makes perfect rice every single time. Well worth the investment.

Tiger is made in China I believe. Zojirushi is the best but only models made in japan.

I've used this Zojirushi model for going on 15 years. It's worth the price premium. I will never go back.
