1) Buy this
2) Install Merlin on it
3) Make sure you have different SSID names for each band 2.4ghz and 5ghz (ie. don't merge them)
4) Put all your IoT devices on the 2.4ghz (thermostat, switches..etc..), and reserve 5ghz for your high bandwidth devices (door bell, cell phones, TV...etc...)
5) Optionally, set it to reboot everyday when everybody is asleep.

That's all there is to it. Don't over think it.
But Amazon is easier returns and purchase, so don't get too hurt! That's excellent info and should be reppped!

Great router sound and true
If you have an old router/modem to trade in, that makes it 15% cheaper.

Yeah, so silly. Welcome to Slickdeals, where everyone likes paying the higher price instead of the lower price.

Is that the motto? I forget.

My main point is there are other options than BB if that matters to anyone. Didn't think I needed to write it out for everyone.

How is this compared to ax88u pro? Is this better in performance than ax88u pro?

AX86U is a great solid router!

I run merlin on this with 4 additional Zenfi mesh points

It works seemless together, and allows you to manage via IP / or app, You can also bind ip addresses to specific mesh points, unlike eero, which does some strange bindings that you have no control over.

I'm also in the market and have my eyes on the Asus AX88U Pro as well. I see someone else mentioned the Flint 2 which I've also heard good things about. I have a lot of Best Buy gift cards though so I'm probably leaning towards an Asus model from there of some sortSmilie

Sorry for being ignorant but is this a reliable brand? Never heard of this company before.

code doesn't work!
The Spitz (also Gli.net) is a great 4G/5G router, for example. Very popular in the RV world. There is also a version that has a build in battery.

Moved from AC86U to AX86U Pro... the new 3.0.0.6 FW is the GOAT (for now, once RMerlin gets the GPL, Merlin 3.0.0.6 will be the GOAT).

I like the easy utility of the Guest Network Pro SDN, GUI based VLAN, separate DNS per network etc...

I like the free for life aI Protection, Trend Micro protection, Tow way IPS etc.

There are some missing functionality (like no time based BW throttling) but I think they will come with time.

Note: OpenWRT is pretty good and configurable, but I don't think it comes with native protection suit.

I tried TPLINK OMADA Router and AP, they are good but again no native protection suit.

Plus Asus supports its router for pretty long with FW updates.

For normal home use, nothing beats it as of now.
