Great games and since they are actually quite different in tone and style, it could be worth it to get both. World would be a better preparation for Wilds, though (which comedy out in February)

Both great games, essentially Rise is more casual and fast paced where World is more immersive and deliberate. Playing World right now to be ready for Wilds.

I played a bunch of base Rise on the Nintendo switch, I'm debating of finally getting it on steam along with Sunbreak

How do these games play? Tried getting into the psp monster hunter, but found it tedious and a bit boring.

These are more of a reboot and open world? Better combat?

I just got the 4 games/dlc deal for World/Iceborne and Rise/Sunbreak but how do I confirm that I got them all? So far on the Android Steam app, I'm only seeing that I got the main games. I don't see the dlc anywhere. I entered all 4 keys. Edit: nevermind. Just hopped on my PC Steam account and see that I will get the dlc installed when I install the main games.

They both play similar to previous MH games
World is slower paced and Rise is more arcade-feeling
Both are great solo, better with buddies... a good time to jump in and get familiar in time for Monster Hunter Wilds
One of those games that you need to give a bit more time as it's not straight forward and have a lot of systems and mechanics to get used to

If no Monster Hunter game has yet to interest you, it may just not be your genre.

Each game improves on the last, but the basic formula is still the same: Fight monster, collect parts for better gear, fight stronger monster, repeat.

Borderlands has a very similar formula, which is why I'm glad they've taken 5 years between mainline releases.

I don't have any of these games and thought about trying them out. If I want iceborn do I also need to purchase world?

Yeah, it's an expansion. Bigger than base game, but base is still required

World is probably the most beginner friendly entry point into the series IMO. Fantastic game. It's definitely more fun if you have a couple of buddies to play with, so don't be shy about joining online games and making friends. I am unsure how alive lobbies are for the game given how long it has been out.

DLC worth it or do you recommend just sticking with the core games? I haven't played any of these games before. Not sure if I'll love it or not.
