I have two of the XT8 units. Got them "Used, Like New" for $363 in June 2021. I had a lot of issues with them at first.. seriously considered returning them because the node would keep disconnecting or show up as "weak signal" which required rebooting the entire system to fix. ASUS finally fixed the issues with their firmware and it's been stable for quite a while. Overall I'm pleased with them and the range is fantastic. But I learned my lesson with ASUS. I will not buy one of their WiFi 7 mesh systems until it's been out several years and they have fixed all the bugs!Positive with ASUS: Well designed products, great functionality, tons of customization available. Negatives: Those customizations can introduce bugs and makes it challenging (I think) for ASUS to find and fix the bugs. But once the firmware is solid, it's a great system. I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of this system after nearly 4 years of ownership. Plan is to use these until they fail, or when ASUS's firmware is solid for their WiFI 7 mesh setups.
You could also try the ET8 system and see if it works for you. Depending on how large your house is, building materials etc. it may work fine with only two units, or perhaps 4 would be needed. With XT8 or XT9 I think you would need fewer units as XT8/XT9 use WiFi 6 (not WiFi 6E) so range is better... hope that helps.
