I have these at home and they have worked great for me. Remember with any router to keep them in the center of the house, up high and as unobstructed as possible, and away from anything metal for best results (don't stick them on top of your fridge).

If I were to buy two of these sets for my stupidly big house would they work together?

I used to love Asus routers, but had to move on because of their abysmal parental controls. Does anyone know if they've gotten any better in the last couple years? Specifically, you weren't able to block site(s) per device, which most others allow.

This has been my experience as well. I'd settle for allowing you to specify different DNS servers for Guest Wifi at minimum.

These units are WiFi 6E. 6E has less range than WiFi 6. For a "stupidly big house" (how many square feet are we talking about? general ballpark figure is fine if you wish to provide some info) you would probably have a better experience (more range) with ASUS XT9 or ASUS XT8. Dong Knows is a great website with lots of good router reviews. I find it very informative. Dong used to work for CNET. Here's a link telling more about XT9 vs XT8: https://dongknows.com/asus-zenwifi-xt9-review/ If the link gets censored by slickdeals search for dongknows xt9 in your favorite search engine...

Prices on Amazon:
  • XT8: New 2 pack, $329 (too expensive); or buy "Used - Like New" for $199 (good deal). Covers ~5500 square feet
  • XT9: New 2 pack, $262 (a bit too much); or buy "Used - Like New" for $181 (good deal). Covers ~5700 square feet
I have two of the XT8 units. Got them "Used, Like New" for $363 in June 2021. I had a lot of issues with them at first.. seriously considered returning them because the node would keep disconnecting or show up as "weak signal" which required rebooting the entire system to fix. ASUS finally fixed the issues with their firmware and it's been stable for quite a while. Overall I'm pleased with them and the range is fantastic. But I learned my lesson with ASUS. I will not buy one of their WiFi 7 mesh systems until it's been out several years and they have fixed all the bugs!

Positive with ASUS: Well designed products, great functionality, tons of customization available. Negatives: Those customizations can introduce bugs and makes it challenging (I think) for ASUS to find and fix the bugs. But once the firmware is solid, it's a great system. I have definitely gotten my money's worth out of this system after nearly 4 years of ownership. Plan is to use these until they fail, or when ASUS's firmware is solid for their WiFI 7 mesh setups.

You could also try the ET8 system and see if it works for you. Depending on how large your house is, building materials etc. it may work fine with only two units, or perhaps 4 would be needed. With XT8 or XT9 I think you would need fewer units as XT8/XT9 use WiFi 6 (not WiFi 6E) so range is better... hope that helps.

Had these and they were not as reliable as prev gens I had. Constantly dropping to certain devices, was likely an issue with the device. Switch to Orbi Pro 6 and I have had 0 issues since. These are great for you if they are reliable though ASUS has made some good ones in the past just didn't work for me.

Had the same experience with my XT9 setup. Internet dies about once every 3 weeks even though internet is coming through and connection works. Normally takes a hour or so get get it working again. Asus help has been not great.

Last firmware update a few weeks ago created connection issues with my node.

Hate to get something else but can't live with this.
