When that happens, nobody will truly own their movies ever again.

I know someone who purchased 8000+ movies on Vudu (Now Fandango). What happens to that extremely expensive collection if Fandango ever goes out of business?

It's unfortunate and short sighted that people prefer convenience over actual ownership.

Not quite sure what you're going on about? Blu-Ray is 1080p native resolution which in my (and I'm sure others) opinion is hardly perfect. 4K Ultra HD has native 4K resolution. "Filters" aside (not sure what filters you're talking about...upscaling?) I'd rather watch a 4K Ultra HD disc than a blu-ray.

In any case, there is a much less expensive Panasonic 4K Ultra HD player that is low on bells and whistles that I snagged for $123 at BB [bestbuy.com] (open box excellent). Reviews say it does what it's supposed to -- play a 4K disc well, but is a minimalist player. It does state it does 4K upscaling, but not sure it does the same quality as the 820 and the 420. I'll have it in a couple days.

Here are examples of prior sales with 6ave, these were through Newegg rather than Walmart.

BB PMed the 3800 in the past when they weren't technically supposed to, worse that will happen is they say no.

More videophool crap.

Again, Blu-Ray is a PIXEL PERFECT FORMAT. These devices are doing nothing but adding filters on already mastered media.

lol you do realize this "mastered media" isn't all mastered the same right!?

Not to mention that "media" has to be "mastered" into metadata then "filtered" for us to even watch it right!?

Do you think this would get lower as $249.99? I want this but don't like the price. I use PS3 and Xbox Series X to play blu Ray movies

Chiming in. This player is constantly $360-400, on sale. You likely won't see it under $320 until the very last ones are being cleared out at a brick and mortar. I have one already and will hope for it to hit about $320 again to buy a backup.

I see. What your thought process of getting another one when you already have one? I thought one is more than enough.

Is there any point in using this with an SDR TV Vizio M50-C1? Or stick with my upscaling Sony S6700?

Bluray players are slowly vanishing from the market altogether. Some folks are buying it as a backup once manufacturers cease to make them.
