I've been cutting hair for years. The clippers aren't bad if you buy them and change their blades out. If you're keeping them stock you're better off just buying well known names.

In that sense if you're going to go that route, just buy some AliExpress/Temu models for $10-20 and change the blades out.

I've done this on some cheapos and they work great. I also own $200 babyblisspro, sc, jrl, wahl etc.

Trimmers. Do yourself a favor and spend extra for brand name unless you only want these for beard trimming, your neck, or for kids.

Crisp lines you're going to need Babybliss, stylecraft etc that are zero gapped.

Just my 2 cents!
Wahl STD. It will have them cutting like a $150 magic clip.

The Amazon reviews that aren't the glowing enthusiastic 5-star algorithmically selected ones make it sound like I should continue purchasing my disposable clippers in AC-powered form.

True, battery is nice when fully charged but I always get snagged when it's below half

I cut my kids and my hair and they have me doing more tapering and fading now for them. I only have the default length guards that came with the Wahl clippers. Is there a guard set you recommend for a shorter/closer taper?

0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 guards didn't come with them? I live by the Stylecraft magnetic guards. Love how easy they go on and off. There's off brand ones also that work just as good

This set has .5 and 1.5. It's called A and B respectively where as the other gaurds are numbered like normal.

They did, I have 2 Wahl Mc2 and Mc3 and the 2 has the metal clip guards which are nice. But wasnt sure if there was something else I should be using that wasn't default.

Also I prob need to replace my Mc2 blades. I haven't really done any maintenance besides oiling the blades, any good YouTubers etc to watch for tips?

It might be time to upgrade. Wahl is a good brand but like Andis they have cheap crappy clippers and amazing pro series.

With the pro series you automatically get the legit guards also.

Wahl magic clips, vapor, and senior are good ones to look into.

If you don't have none of those, you're even better off just getting these off of woot.

Is it worth $15 more to go with something like this from Glaker? What's the difference performance wise?

It's about the blades. Anything from these brands aren't going to have great blades.

Any combo suggestion I give would most likely be around $150 (SC rogue, andis envy)

The woot ones and these are most likely the same blade just these might have better rpms and a longer battery.

If you're going cheap get the woot set for $33 and a Wahl STD blade $25.

Don't expect much from any cheap trimmers.
