Anyone wondering dedicated player vs ps5 vs xbox: https://www.reddit.com/r/HD_MOVIE..._ult
Basically, esoteric and unless you have a nice home theater setup and the right TV to player setup and settings made, most causal tv viewers won't notice/care and will do fine on a game console.
Collectors, movie enthusiasts, pixel peeping types? Can matter and the top Panasonic players worth it.

The point of this player is that it supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ in Blu-Ray playback, which game consoles do not.

Here we go again, someone comparing dedicated video game console capable of dvd player vs stand alone dvd player with more tech stuff
Or "why get this if my Xbox can do this too?"
Blu-ray is still mainstream today.
You will have issues...and even bigger issues on the Sony UX-800 player
The LG UBK90 will play the disc though

Why? I have the 4K and UB820 and it is playing fine? I haven't heard much from the forums other them receiving bad discs
All kinds of dropouts on my Panasonic 820
It was run directly to a Sony A95l and the other HDMI run directly to an Arcam AV 41 pre/pro
Pulled it out and popped in an LG UBK90 and all was good
I have 420 as well as.. connected to a Samsung tv since the lack of DV
I didn't even think about trying the disc in that player just to see
I only tried in players that I know would play DV
