Wish they didn't go proprietary. Expanding for my PS5 with a 2TB ssd thats 2x the speed of this cost me less than $200.

Guess I'll wait for Black Friday for better prices on these hopefully

Who knows but looking forward to it. Even at $360 this thing is not worth it. Imho it becomes viable at the $200-225 price range.

Honestly my price point is more like $150. What we're paying for is a custom plastic holder and some circuitry...is it really terribly expensive to make?..

As an Xbox fan since the OG in 2001, for so much talk of Microsoft being consumer friendly, this leaves a very bad feeling and is probably one of the biggest hang up about the Series consoles. Sure, MS rarely if ever let us use non proprietary parts outside an external spinner drive, the high markup adds insult to injury. SMH. Hopefully Phil Spencer and Co listen to reason and let other 3rd parties come up with a competitive solution.

This is one of the ONLY problems with it's design. This is way too expensive. AND it's slower than PS apparently, someone correct if I'm wrong.

Seriously, it's a freaking joke. An Xbox Series X can be purchased for $400+ bucks when Xbox gift cards are 20% discounted and NewEgg just had the console pretty cheap with the Zip 15% discount. When you can almost buy a whole new console for the price of a 2 TB expansion drive, the pricing is outrageous and they are just gouging at that point.

I would buy one if it was at least reasonably priced, but that would be around $200 dollars. And it's just to save me the time of uninstalling and redownloading games, due to lack of storage. That's all I would want one for. Not worth the $400 bucks.

They aren't gouging.... It's really due to them using a dumb small form factor which is more expensive to make. If the supported the larger for factor, it would be much cheaper.

I wonder if in the future, will someone make a converter, that converts Xbox's propitiatory slot into an M.2 slot.
