Ok ok, I'm in for one. I can finally stop looking at receivers. I wish everybody luck on the rest of their journey.
Some misinformation in that post. I work in HT installation and the right xover settings will depend on a number of factors (mainly the speaker and sub capabilities) and it is not always the THX recommendation of 80Hz. Sound loses its directivity in the 80-100Hz region. That's why you only need one sub and not notice any loss of movement in the soundtrack. Setting the crossover higher results in some of the sound with directivity (Location information) going to the sub so the soundtrack will have less movement to it. You want as much signal with location content to be used in the bed layer so that it maintains that location aspect. Movies are not mixed with a 120Hz designed xover and surround music (DD, DTS and Atmos) are not mixed that way either.

That's a great deal for this AVR. Most deals before this were $100 more.

In for 1, thanks! I hoped this deal would pop up again from Adorama since I can't get shipping from Nebraska Furniture Mart.

I got X4800 for $1249. Any suggestions on returning that and buying this? A higher DAC on x4800 and more watts per channel would matter in sound quality, I guess.

Really great price for AVR-X3800H. Don't need pre-out and 9.2 is good enough so should I keep the Onkyo NR7100 from last deal @ 529 with Dirac Live or get this... I am still with Onkyo but this is too good of a deal

I just couldn't justify the extra cost but then again even this price was way way more than I ever thought I'd spend on a receiver. I intend to keep this for a long time and I was tired of not having a preamp outputs or bi-amp functionality being available. Have no idea how much the sound quality will improve with this one but hoping it is worth it, coming from basic 5.1 yamaha receiver. What I read is that it's better to spend difference towards a 3 channel amp. Anyways I'm going to just try with this receiver first and then if I really feel like it, I'll get the amp.

Would there be a noticeable difference between this and the Denon s760h aside from the two additional channels and subs? I'm running rp-8000f, rp-504c, and rp-600m (and 2x rp-1400sw).

Well there you have it, Black Friday is hype. Just wait for a few days after to get the real BF deals.

Had I not been tempted by the $1299 cost for the X4800H during BF, I would have jumped on this. It's a lot of receiver for $900.

Probably not a big deal to most, but if you use a non-Spotify music streaming service (Tidal, Amazon, Qobuz), you will need to have a third party music streamer or be stuck with HEOS for the music. HEOS is not a great interface for music management. I'll be ordering a WiiM for this reason.
