The version of this laptop with a 4070 and a i7-12700H was $150 more a few times recently. That one has about a ~10% more powerful processor and a ~15% more powerful GPU, though the aspect ratio on this one is 16:10 vs, 16:9 on that one. The version with a 4060 recently was around this same price and has a the same ~10% better processor and a comparable GPU (though I'd personally say an Nvidia GPU is still an advantage given comparable performance). This same laptop was also on sale for $50 less on Black Friday. So, overall, this is a decent deal, especially if you strongly prefer the 16:10 form factor, but I would stop short of saying that it is an excellent deal.

Would you say its better than the MSI Katana 15.6" Laptop - 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12650H - GeForce RTX 4060 - FHD (1920 x 1080) - 144Hz - Windows 11 for $900? o_O

Yes. The 7700 is faster than the 4060.

The screen on the Katana is bad (45% NTSC, which is like 60% sRGB coverage). The screen on this Asus has 100% sRGB coverage. For this reason alone, I'd say this is a much better deal.

Note that the amd processor means 10 hours of battery life watching YouTube. Intel will get a few extra frames but your unplugged usage goes down to around 4-5hrs.

I'm deciding between these three 16" laptops. Which one would you choose?

1. ASUS TUF A16: 16" FHD+ 165Hz, Ryzen 7 7735HS, RX 7700S, 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD $829.99

2. Acer Predator Helios Neo (Cert. Refurb): 16" FHD+ 165Hz, i5-13500HX, RTX 4050 (140W), 16GB DDR5, 512GB SSD $689.99

3. Dell G16 7620 Laptop: 16" QHD+ 165Hz, i7-12700H, RTX 3060, 16GB DDR5, 1TB SSD $765

The 7735HS is a Zen3+ processor and not Zen4, AMD have a new numbering system which is more complicated than the old one.
Brother I assure you this CPU is still enough for you to watch adult entertainment. The iGPU has a hw accelerator block for video and can easily handle 4k.

I'd recommend thinking twice about buying this laptop. Either the 7700s drivers are horrible, or the system is just really poorly optimized in some other way. It runs ridiculously hot during gaming.. and super loud! My asus TUF from last year with 6800h and 3050ti is far more quiet, not nearly as hot doing the exact same things, and FPS in games is often better.

The 7700s has 2x the VRAM, but it's a hot pig.

Additionally, watch a nature video on this laptop and notice how EVERYTHING looks like a video game instead of reality... it may have 100%SRGB, but the colors are blown-out, and/or there's not enough contrast to make stuff look right with the available color gamut... it's terrible.

Bestbuy also hassled me about the return.. needlessly! I'm salty about it still, lol.

I beg to differ! I logged the 3rd highest score on 3dmark (for this exact laptop).. and it was still WAY below the performance of an average 4060.

Furthermore, it runs SUUUPER hot, and throttles after just a few min of gaming. I have an Asus TUF from last year with basically the same CPU (6800h) and a 3050ti, and in 4/5 games the performance from the 7700s was less!! In one game (Grounded) it was nearly half of the FPS I was getting with the 3050ti.
