Bought this at $679.99. An amazing gaming laptop. Getting 100 to 130FPS on average for graphics-intensive games. Have tried The Callisto Protocol, COD: MW3, Reisdent Evil 4, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

I was going to say how, but then realized the screen resolution. Which really I think 1080p is ok for a smaller laptop screen. This really doesn't seem like too bad a laptop at all.

Yes, I think a 1080p or 1200p display is the sweet spot for this GPU.

The Dell G15 has a better processor and the 4060 is basically equal to the 7700S +/- 5% depending on the benchmark etc. A little bit larger battery on the Asus. Screen resolution better on the Asus but otherwise displays seem similar. RAM and storage are the same. MUX switch on Asus is nice not sure if the Dell has one. The Dell is considerably heavier (almost 30% heavier). That is what I see on a quick glance at the specs.

FHD is entry at this point. My G14 has 1600p and I wouldn't settle for less. Font is so sharp when I'm writing or coding. Perfect for reading txt. Plus higher resolution gives you more working space for applications...

On my desktop computer monitors I run multiple 27" 4K for precisely that reason, so I can see more at once while I am working. But if I was buying a laptop to game I'd seriously consider a 1080p or so display. And for a handheld like a steam deck or ROG I'd prefer a 720p screen, or close, that way I can easily drive it at native resolution.

You're missing the point, but whatever. I like my G14 too, it just doesn't have the balls to push a the 1600p screen. This would arguably be better for just gaming though. The 120w 7700s would do much better at pushing pixels @ 1080p, and has a chance of actually using that 165hz screen in a game that's not old AF.

got this for 680$ on prime day, bonkers deal for a quality laptop even if you're not gaming on it. USB-C charging much appreciated so dont have to lug bulky 280w powerbrick/cables around.

The Dell also weighs 1000 pounds…

Is this a no brainer at $658 for Open Box Excellent condition? Or are there better options at this price?

Unless you got a YMMV on a 4070 for around $750 you wont find a better deal on a gaming laptop.
