It will be my mobile gaming laptop, for the few trips a year I take. I got a $200 GC from the pixel pro 9 pre order burning a hole in my pocket.
They do have some open box ones at my BB $567 fair, $590 good, $613 xlnt. The "good" one at under 600 makes it tempting. But I swore I wouldn't buy another chonker gamer laptop.... I promised myself.... must..... resist......
edit - 512gb nvme? That's a party foul. Need to have at least a TB with todays games
also edit - the 7700s looks to compare to the mobile GF 4050 which is... ok. It's a 1200p screen so that should be fine
edit edit edit - barrel plug power? No USB-C PD? BOOOOOOOOO that might be a deal breaker. Having USB-C powered laptops has been great, really cuts down on the amount of cords and adapters I have to haul around

Yes if you dont plan on gaming or utilizing the discreet graphics this is definitely not for you. 5lbs is nothing, my current work laptop is around 3lbs elitebook g9 and I can barely tell a difference.
Yeah I would have loved to see USB-C PD also, but for the $680 price tag or the under $6, I wont be too picky.

This one isn't "chonker" relatively speaking. 4.8lbs is fairly standard and the only real "chonkers" are Dell/Alienwares at over 6lbs for the laptop and 3lbs for the charger. Acer has a few heavier models but this is actually closer to the opposite end.
Most budget laptops come with 512GB and it's pretty easy to upgrade with a second slot, not a concern.
7700s is closer to a 4060/4070. The 7600s is closer to a 4050/4060. Barrel plug power is standard on all gaming laptops because USB-C hasn't reached 240W+ until recently. It has PD so you can take a light charger.
I still have to go pick it up at Best buy
In fact the open box for this laptop shows at $628 for Good and $650 for Excellent condition (in Southern California store).

I would throw a cheap $40 ssd in there to load games. Great deal
Anywho, my research indicated for open box instead of refurb, it shows up as a new purchase so cc will honor the extension. Take that with a grain of salt -- just what I read on reddit, etc. At this price point I doubt you will see something significantly lower for something that pushes out pixels at the 4060 to 4070 range (laptop cards). Memory looks like an easy upgrade when needed.
Also, keep in mind this is a gaming laptop so weight will always be greater than a lot of the productivity laptops. You want something light? Look into something cool like the Lenovo carbons made out of carbon fiber like airplanes. You want something that can operate like a tablet? Buy a convertible, surface pro, or a tablet. You want something uber portable to game on with a tiny screen so integrated graphics are whatever? Steam deck or another portable. But if you want a gaming laptop, you tend to trade weight and $$$$ for the powa to push dem pixels.

Best feature of this laptop is the battery life: 12-20 hours, provided you're not gaming and keep the display brightness between low and medium.
