Dang, looking at the "Last purchased" note on my product page, exactly 2 years ago (12/20/2022) I bought 3 of these T/Sal Shampoo for $2.49 each! Can't imagine it ever going that low again though! 😕

The "last purchased" on the product page is one of the things I like most about Amazon. I bought a single bottle for $2.49 then as well.

How is this compared to Neutrogena T/Gel? My partner uses that one for very persistent dandruff that's very difficult to get rid off.

From what I've read, results vary for everyone. Personally, I prefer T/Sal because it just seems more effective for me, and I couldn't stand the lingering scent of the coal tar in T/Gel.
Note that, at least in my experience (as someone with seborrheic dermatitis), T/Sal is very effective at controlling my seb derm .. which actually results in shedding a lot of dandruff after my skin heals. I end up having to shower and using a scalp scrubber to clear everything out later. As long as I'm consistent with the T/Sal, my skin and dandruff issues remain at bay, but if I run out and miss a day or two and allow my SD to flare up, the next time I use T/Sal I'll have a ton of dandruff within 24 hours or so.

It's such a tiny bottle. How long does it last if you use it the recommended twice a week?

This stuff's great - it's like washing your hair at the scene of a train derailment.

It's been years, but you used to be able to buy bottles some Canada-made knockoff of this at DT for a buck. I used it as a face wash and it seemed to be very effective against breakouts I would occasionally get that the doctor said was probably rosacea.

This shampoo the golden one has a metallic smell or some kinda off putting smell, I was wondering if others found the same as well. Or was it just me?

The regular price for CVS Health Therapeutic Dandruff Shampoo is $7.79 (ExtraCare Plus price$6.23). If you use CVS regularly, you must get 40% coupon and/or extra care rewards, further decreasing the price. Don't forget to use HSA/FSA.

It's probably the smell of the salicylic acid you're noticing. I used to use a skin cream with salicylic acid, had the exact same smell as t/sal shampoo.

I prefer the smell of this over the coal tar in T/Gel.

My dermatologist also prescribed me
Ciclopirox 1% shampoo, ketoconazole 2% shampoo, and a new medicine zoryve foam 0.3% that just came out recently. Between the 3 of these my seborrheic dermatitis has all but vanished!
