Love the downvotes from the trolls.
This is the lowest 4070 laptop with a newer processor out there.
The display is for life...unless you plan on changing that too. 300 nit and 45 NTSC is not a great display

Just paid $680 for the Asus Tuf A16 deal at Best Buy during Black Friday (7735HS with 7700s). Is it worth returning that to pick this HP up instead? Not sure if the jump to the 8845HS and 4070 will be worth the price increase.

nah. I'd say both the deals are equal bargains imho and the one you got is better for the person that wants to spend 170 less. It usually doesn't pay to spend more for top or near top like 4070 bc lower down or previous gen machines offer better value. but, in this case it appears good value so can be an exception

worth it to jump now if you have the money. upgrading later will be much more costly.

buying anything better than the 4070 is definitely not worth it because you're spending at least 50% more.

that's my justification for upgrading at least.

i got this openbox excellent. looked new for ~$850 with tax.
debating to keep or not since this thing is LOUD.. it does a good job to keep the laptop cool. you basically NEED to use headphones when using this laptop.. seems there's no way to control the fans?

Great deal but tiny SSD. Anyone know if these Victus models have easy SSD access to upgrade without voiding warranty?

How loud? Only when gaming, or idling on the desktop too?

AMD and Nvidia drivers both updated?

You are right! I have been tracking the laptops with 4070 for a year and this is the lowest price ever on an IPS display with 300 nits.

is this price mistake?

It's easily 1000+ directly from HP even after EPP discounts.

The CPU is more powerful than all of my desktop CPUs and GPU is equivalent to desktop RTX 4060.

If you need a gaming laptop it's probably impossible to get a better one at sub-1000.

BTW if you have Amex don't forget to use the 25 off 250 Best Buy. It will expire in about 1 week.

I've been watching laptops in this price / spec range and this seems like the best deal in a while. I'll have to see how easy it is to upgrade SSD / Ram but in these laptops that's usually not too tough. In for 1. Thanks OP!

Umm, why would it be a price mistake? It's not. It's a part of BB daily deal/offers till Christmas and they usually give huge discounts on such occasions. The lowest on this was $879.99, a week ago and now we have the current price as the lowest. I reckon it won't be this price again for the next 2-3 months.

Just got the LOQ 7435HS 4070 from Walmart. This one looks even better. Should I return it?

updates yes, on my first boot up i looked at all updates and everything as possible.
as for fans, idling id say it's mostly a light hum, definitely drowned out by say any video. when it's silent, i can kinda hear it.

when gaming, forget about it.. im sitting ~5 feet from the thing, the fans are competing with my game sounds and almost winning.. i was playing random stuff;; like killing floor, cs2, street fighter..

gonna play a bit more this weekend to decide to keep or not, thinking of ways to basically put this thing super faar from me that i barely hear the fans
