Open Box worth saving ~$200?

Edit: Really tempted by this but slightly concerned that it might go cheaper once the 2025 models come out. Need someone to talk me into buying this by bringing up tariffs.

I'm tempted too lol. I need a new laptop and this fits the bill

It's just the soldered 16gb ram that I don't like

Thanks for posting. I missed this at $1400 the last time around, but I figured BB was just cycling through sales of each model. And sure enough, this particular sale is back.
Yeah 16GB is tight, but the lowest price I've seen for the next step up 32GB/RTX4080 is $2275. The diff isn't worth $900 to me.

16gb for gaming is good enough and there is not much fps difference between 16 and 32

8gb vram means crash time for Spiderman 2, rise of ronin and FF Rebirth. Likely other new games as well. I got so many vram errors just from Rebirth being so big.

There isn't a free Ram slot available like previous year's Zephyrus? Oof.

Seems you only get 32GB with gpu 4080 or gpu 4090 or cpu HX 370. The 4080 (185H + 1TB SSD) is no longer available new at BB. I got the last open box fair condition in my area at $1650+tax+missing charger. Not particularly a fantastic deal, but it was the last one and the laptop itself was in great condition.

Hi all, be aware that if you buy open box, you only get a 3 month of warranty. Asus support confirmed this for me earlier this month after I read on Reddit another person having an issue and finding out the same info. Once I found this out I returned my open box laptop to bestbuy.

If you don't care about a 3 month warranty then you can def find a great open box deal on this laptop. I wasnt comfortable only having 3 months based off the cost of the laptop.

Not worth it at this price because of the soldered ram. If the open box fell into the 900s, then yes it would be a good deal

No it really isnt, most of us game while still having our browsers open with tons of tabs and other programs running in the background, the limitation of 16GB kills this deal completely.

If that is true Best Buy has a lot of explaining to do, have you reached out to Best Buy when you were returning the laptop and did they confirm that? It would be blatant fraud if they are still saying full warranty when selling the product like they were in the past.

I mentioned people having issues with Asus a few months back in another thread, but they all quoted Best Buy saying the manufacture would honor the full year.

I bought a G14 32gb ram/rtx 4070 from Best Buy and I took it back for the same reason. When I brought it up, the local GM confirmed that it's true and they received a ton of feedback on this. 3 months is not enough for a $1000 laptop

Very unfortunate, this will definitely affect how I price a good deal in terms of an Asus open box going forward. Not to mention will keep repeating that info in the Asus threads so people dont get suckered by accident.
