Crazy good deal. Grabbed one. There's a review in YouTube that says you can upgrade the RAM and the storage.

Nice price for the open box ultra 9 too. Ymmv. Pick up

And only 60Hz. Why does a "Pro"-labeled laptop have the such basic specs on the screen?

I bought the non-Pro Vivobook 15 and it came with a 120Hz 3K OLED screen. For $750 with Ultra 7 CPU. Not sure what about this "Pro" version is better?

1080p kills the deal as you get less working space compared to a 2k display as a comparison especially if you open multiple tabs and windows.

Just jumping in to say this is an excellent price for this laptop. I have one and you will be quite hard pressed to find one with a full set of ports, a high end Core Ultra i9, and dedicated GPU and 2TB SDD and 24GB RAM and fully upgradable for $700. Yes, the monitor is only FHD 60Hz, but so is anything else you'd find for $700 or it's missing one or more of the above. But for general use the display is bright and sharp.

The only other downside IMHO is speed really gets throttled on battery power, but again for $700, the throttled speed here is probably equivalent to "normal" speed on a $700 budget laptop.
This is an i7, not an i9, with only 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Not sure where you got your specs for $700.

Ah, I read too fast. Thought it was the Ultra i9 model like I have.

Not a good deal. Lukewarm if it's brand new.

Yeah. Can't have things side by side, and see a lot of content. I do 3-4 Windows on my 2k laptop.

RAM upgrade is weird as 8GB is soldered and then 1 SODIMM slot. So only the 1st 16GB will run dual-channel. Anything over 16GB will be single-channel. There are also two SSD slots:

https://www.asus.com/us/laptops/f.../techspec/

They really screwed up putting a 60Hz 1080p display in a "Pro" laptop.

Wrong. LPDDR5, can not be upgraded.

5600mhz. Pretty slow. Normal 7840/8840 usually use 6400mhz. But probably not very big a deal. Ok deal.

Probably you checked a wrong one. It says lpddr5 5600mhz. Don't think you can upgrade LPddr5 since they are all soldered. Another thing is that cpu with high performance integrated graphics usually never comes with upgradable memory because they use super high frequency memory. E.g. 7840u 8840u ultra series.

How's the battery life? I am planning to use it for my engineer major.

The model at BB says Q533MJ. The tech spec page at ASUS says Q533MJ. It also says it has a SODIMM slot, and BB says LPDDR5 so who do you believe?

I found this review [youtube.com] on YT and it is indeed only 8GB soldered (not LPDDR5) and has an SODIMM slot for more (DDR5-5600).
