I don't understand one upgrade slot - it's currently matched with the soldered ram, so if you put in a 16gb or 32gb in slot 2, the memory will no longer work in dual channel mode, right, and will just be single channel? Not sure if this is worse then not enough ram, but not sure its desirable to upgrade the ram in only one slot.

My understanding is the first 16GB (8GB + 8GB) will be dual channel then after that it's single channel. But I agree, it's not optimal to have this single SODIMM slot but it's better than none!
