16GB (8GB on board + 8GB SO-DIMM) DDR5 5600 MHz

I've seen this setup a lot lately. So modern DDR5 IIRC doesn't have to be "matched" to work in DDR speeds. So like if you replaced the 8 SO-DIMM with a 32 it would have 16 GBs (8+8) in "proper" DDR configuration, and then an extra 16 that was slower but still much faster than off loading to the SSD? I think that's how it works now.

It's the extra 24GB that runs in single channel mode (32GB - 8GB).

With all the different ASUS models with higher end features at low prices, this model (stuck with a "Pro" label) doesn't have any standout features. A very boring 1080p 60Hz OLED screen, slow DDR5-5600 (compared to LPDDR5X that runs at around 8500 MT/s) and a mediocre GPU. What is "Pro" about this I'm not sure.

Definitely not a choice at $1300 -- maybe at $800, but personally, I'd be looking for a deal on a model with the 3K 120Hz OLED panel and maybe with the higher speed RAM.

There is a Vivobook S 14 [bestbuy.com] with the new Ultra 5 Series 2 and OLED on sale for $650. .I'd probably consider that over this if you don't absolutely need a 15.6".

Only issue with s14 is 16GB and not upgradable

Can you elaborate why ? The screen on both seem to be the same.. the processor also seems same performance wise. if anything this has dedicated GPU vs intel arc using shared memory and upgradeability of SSD and RAM

How's this compared to Vivobook 16"from Costco on 28th for $700 ? It goes on sale only one day!

I think this one has an intel cpu that's 2 gen newer than the costco one. + no GPU on the costco unit.

Am I wrong that the specs look identical with the model Walmart has on sale for $750 except that this adds dedicated graphics? Or am I missing something?

Edit: Actually, the Walmart version is a higher screen resolution also...
