I am replying to this post from my TUF A16 from the previous sale. Open box, 700 OTD. Solid machine, good buy imo. Being a gaming machine, it does get quite hot and running performance modes does impact the battery quite a bit, but that is all completely normal/expected. I myself paired with a IETS cooler which keeps it running well.

You're not supposed to run it (or any other gaming laptop) with heavy games unplugged. The high performance mode should not impact battery life.

This is a good machine for the price but the AMD drivers aren't the best. For example there is a new update for Adrenalin that added a bug where it opens whenever your PC is inactive.

i'm convinced people say things like this to talk themselves out of buying something. omg the brightness. then drop 3 grand. This is a very solid price and don't expect deals at black friday.

Why should I not buy this laptop for $695 (excellent open box)? I was originally thinking about an rtx 4050 Lenovo loq for $650.

I was unsuccessful in upgrading the ram kit on this laptop. per what I read online it requires a specific brand/ same brand from the stock ram that was factory installed. I tried installing a corsair branded sodimm but it won't boot up

I had the same problem, I returned the Corsair and went with Crucial. I have had zero problems since.

Are you being serious right now? You took my reply mentioning what to generally expect from its battery life to assuming... I run games while unplugged? lmao. If I ran cod on battery I wouldn't even last the entire round before going into battery save mode.

Guess I need to clarify for people who don't understand sub-text?: This machine runs great plugged in. Battery life does take a hit if you're on-the-go and "happen to be" running all the fans and whatnot. Again, this is true for ANY machine.

Also, haven't needed to upgrade the ram but I did open 'er up to add second SSD and it was simple enough process.

You said "Being a gaming machine, it does get quite hot and running performance modes does impact the battery quite a bit".

Pretty easy to see why someone would interpret that as you running games unplugged. Especially since battery life is not impacted when you are plugged in and gaming. It's a very common scenario that sounds obvious but a lot of people do it.

This machine is also known for a good battery life on the standard/balanced preset. Not sure why anyone would run any laptop at high performance unplugged.

Uh, no it's actually not. One of the TUF's few "weaknesses" on a machine that is otherwise excellent. Look up Asus TUF battery life. I mean, again: it's not a knock on the machine whatsoever. I use this thing unplugged only 0.01% of the time, cuz i'm not an abject moron.. But, given that it's a laptop, it's at least important to note. TUF is not known for its battery life/capacity. I'm sure you can find first hand accounts if you search on likes of reddit and such. I believe in you.

Please do your research, this is the A16 2023 all-AMD config with RX7600s/7700s. At this point I can only assume you are talking about a different machine. I own this and there are quite a few reviews that praise the battery life, particularly if you have G-Helper installed.

I could continue for a while but I've used too many links to prove my point, and this was only 10 minutes of basic research. Next time don't be rude when you could have just explained clearly in the first place...

Edit: Little buddy couldn't be bothered to read my third sentence. Got to be a troll...

Do you own an Asus TUF A16? Because I have this exact machine with this exact same config. But thank you for educating me on the machine that I'm literally typing out this reply on. Go ahead and provide me your cookie fund cashapp and I'll send you a cookie for your valiant efforts.

Lol, I knew this was going to be posted, but its not worth it people hold the line and this should be back down to previous pricing, that even includes cheaper open boxes if we are just patient. I been eyeing this laptop since I missed the $542 open box price, but I have patience.
