Good price for a 4070 and a Ryzen CPU. Best combo for performance and battery.

I think good price for overall performance. Battery life doesn't even matter for any use case that involves the 4070. It needs to be plugged in.

There's got to be a gotcha with this price. How's the screen? Keyboard? Battery life?

Anyone know if this would be suitable for running adobe premiere or ableton? Idk how accurate the screen color would be for editing etc. I just want something I can game on and do some kind of creative work. What would you guys suggest, if you've used programs like that before?
According to datasheet, it's 62.5% sRGB, 300 nits Frown

This is definately a buy now think later price. Although it was cheaper in August for a day, you'd definately be hard pressed to find better specced laptop for cheaper.

Just buy whatever monitor you want, and plug it into this. Professional calibration could probably improve color accuracy, but with the money you're saving, you'd be better getting a monitor designed accurate color reproduction.
Was cheaper for "Open-Box Excellent" units.

From what I've read, the screen is below average - it has poor color reproduction and low resolution. Keyboard is average feeling. Battery life is meh. Build quality below average. But getting a 4070 and that cpu at this price is very nice.

i remember seeing similar unit in costco; i think it was the 3060. the keyboard was mushy.
i thnk someone would want this if they had limited space around their room, and know that every once in a while need to move around with the laptop

Not the person you responded to. There's a lot of specialized use cases for 64gb. People developing things. Not really any use cases for video games but video games aren't the only thing people use laptops for

Plenty of use cases but 99.9% of the people who buy this will never fit into any of them, which is why it has 16gb and not 32 or 64.

AI stuff like machine learning. Database server. Just two use cases off the top of my head.

We had a 32 GB MS-SQL database server at work and when we upgraded it to 64 GB, we noticed the difference immediately.

Personally, I think the build quality on the is Victus line sucks. I bought a previous-year model from Microcenter earlier this year, and the touchpad is permanently stuck after less than six months of fault use. My kid is stuck using a mouse with it. Also, the fans in it are pretty whiny when the discrete graphics are working hard. I would steer clear and stick to another brand.
