I bought this and immediately returned it. Ran it at 350f for 5 minutes, the unit suddenly shut off (it's suppose to stay on to cool down when done) and I smelled a burning electronics smell.

Went with the ninja flip one at Costco, figured I might as well bite the bullet on a better unit and at least have a better return policy.

While I haven't owned this exact model, I also have personal experience with toaster oven failure. Timer got stuck for no apparent reason. Just infinite cook time. Lucky I was paying a little attention...

Toaster oven failures seem to be common (relatively speaking). There's no way I'd cheap out on one.

Look at reviews with pictures if anything falls on bottom burner element it destroys it or catches fire.

I wish they wouldn't put "Digital Displays" on bargain items, it just makes them more susceptible to failure.
A good old fashion knob would be fine...

Not specifically this model, but do convection toaster ovens such as this work as well at air frying as dedicated air fryers, or are the latter better because they have bigger or better fans? We already have a nice Cuisinart convection toaster oven and am wondering if it's worth it to get a "real" air fryer.

We've had two generations of the Gourmia basket air fryers now, all bought from Costco. They work well and are convenient for our needs, they just don't last. After our experience, I wouldn't buy a Gourmia product outside of Costco, per the coverage of the satisfaction guarantee.

After our second Gourmia from Costco died we returned it and switched to a Ninja toaster oven-style convection oven that was gifted to us. It was a nice enough product, good controls, cooked well, but for our needs the oven-style was far less convenient the basket air fryers. Chicken nuggets, tater tots, fries, smaller items like that are less convenient to handle in the small oven format. Chicken parts (breast, tenderloins, etc), frozen burger patties, and other items that drip liquid would make a mess on the door hinge if you had to pull them out part-way to turn them. The basket-style was also easier to clean relative to the mess made by what we cook in it. We went back to a Gourmia basket-fryer from Costco, per their return policy protection.
