The product page on Asus's site says "up to 16gb", so I'm assuming soldered, no upgrade.

It used to be full manufacturer warranty was included on all BestBuy open box items.
This issue seems to be only with ASUS, other manufacturers have been honoring their warranty's in full as they should.
BestBuy has not been helpful in resolving the issue and yet they still portray open box items as having the manufacturer warranty's.
I am gonna say no. That's why they have item/store locator now and tell you there's one/nothing within 200 miles of you.

Not gonna invest money in a 6+ year old laptop. If it's that important to you, you can purchase the dead one from me!
Tell that to PC gamers. Spend spend upgraded parts here and there.
Wouldn't hurt to ask them, if you could actually call and connect to a local store which you can't anymore because they connect you to a national call center. So you'd probably have to ask in store.
